This is not some cheapo boom box from the early 90's. It is a top end modern desktop hi-fi system, perfect for an executive office, home study or bookshelf background music system. It is very well built, with typical top-drawer German build quality you would expect from Philips. Besides the CD player, the unit includes a well functioning FM/AM radio receiver - something that people often forget about, but wish they had after the fact. It also has an atttractive backlit LCD display which features a clock and is comfortably visible at night because it puts off a soft blue glow. Note that the two speakers can remain mounted to the receiver unit, or can be physically disconnected and separated for positioning further apart, as true bookshelf speaker system. The extra speaker wire is included to achieve several feet of separation. Best of all, THIS UNIT is like brand new. Literally zero flaws, scratches, dirt, etc. Both the unit and the remote look like they just came out of the factory box, with almost zero signs of any usage, ever. Of course, it sounds great.
