Registered Nurse (Infection Prevention Control)

The Infection Prevention Control Practitioner (Registered Nurse) will demonstrate leadership in developing and maintaining a productive working relationship with all levels of staff and with peers in other facilities, community agencies and with representative in the academic setting. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Monitors and reports the status of MDRO initiative programs (MRSA, C.difficle, VRE, and ESBL producing organisms). This includes surveillance for colonization/infection with MRSA and other organisms. Develops and implements action plans based on the results of the on-going surveillance Identifies, monitors and educates patients and staff regarding Infection prevention based on education level and ability to learn and validates understanding. Communicates knowledge and understanding of mandatory requirements and standards of Joint Commission, OSHA, and State Public Health as they relate to Infection Control Educational presentations relevant to the Infection Prevention initiatives for staff, patients and visitors. Conducts deep dives into specific practices and surveillance findings. Monitors and reports the status of employee compliance with policies such as hand hygiene, isolation practices, separation of clean and sterile supplies, and cleaning of non-critical RME. Engages with all levels of clinicians, non-licensed staff and leadership at the facility, VISN and National levels. Serves as a member of the Environment of Care Team at both campuses and all Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Monitors and reports the status of swabs (on admission, transfer and discharge) and the rate of community acquired versus hospital acquired colonization/infection. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred; Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) desirable. 1-2 years infection prevention and control experience. Evidence of 3-5 years of successful professional nursing practice in progressive complex nursing roles. Knowledge and understanding of the organization's infection prevention and control processes. Certification as infectious control practitioner is highly preferred. Organizational skills with ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills in organizing and communicating ideas and thoughts effectively through written correspondence and oral presentation. Strong data management skills including knowledge of Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office software, data bases, spreadsheets and tools needed in report preparation. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. This position requires visual acuity (including depth perception), keen hearing, clear distinctive speech and manual dexterity, both eyes required, hearing (aid permitted), reaching above shoulder, use of both legs required. This position requires potentially long periods of walking (2-4 hours), standing (2-6 hours), kneeling (1-2 hours). pushing (1-2 hours), repeated bending (12 hours), straight pulling (1-2 hours), heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over, heavy carrying, 45 pounds and over. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The position may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures; may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, psychiatric disorders or other risk factors.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
