The duties of the position must be related to either the student's academic or career goals. PATHWAYS ELIGIBILITY All applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a student on at least a half-time schedule at a qualifying educational institution in a certificate, degree, or diploma program. All applicants must have academic or career goals that are related to the duties and responsibilities of the position, which include related to agriculture, mathematics, or statistics education. At the GS-03 Education:
Completion of 1 academic year of post-high school study. At the GS-04 Education:
Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. At the GS-05 Education:
Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
