Advanced Practice Registered Nurse- Endocrinology

The preferred candidate will be considered qualified through experience and training to provide evaluation, treatment, and management of hormonal problems, including diseases, infections, neoplasms, and other dysfunctions of endocrine organs. Evaluation, treatment, and management of Type-1 and Type-2 Diabetes. and intensive management of glycemic control in ambulatory settings. Evaluation and management of multi-factorial disorders associated with hormonal regulation, including disorders of fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base metabolism, disorders of bone and mineral metabolism, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium imbalances; ectopic hormone production, endocrine aspects of psychiatric diseases, parenteral nutrition support, and lipid and Iiprotein disorders. Duties will include but not limited to:
-Assessing, diagnosing, treating and managing illness and injuries in the inpatient and outpatient settings. -Promoting health and protection from disease, monitoring and managing illnesses and injuries of patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings Assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative services. Admitting/transferring of patients to the appropriate care services with collaboration of the attending physician. Using telehealth modalities. Performing and documenting history and physical examinations. Placing admission and discharge orders and performing discharge summaries. Obtaining and documenting informed consent for procedures the APRN is privileged to perform. Developing and ordering plans of care. Providing counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers as appropriate. Prescribing medications within prescriptive authority according to VA regulations and controlled substances within guidelines of the Federal Controlled Substances Act/ State Board of Nursing. Ordering of devices, supplies, and durable medical equipment. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities (including but not limited to laboratory tests, placement EKG, of radiological nasogastric studies, tubes, placement hemodynamic and removal monitoring, of urinary treatments, IV catheters). fluids and electrolytes, oxygen, placement of nasogastric tubes, placement and removal of urinary catheters). Ordering ancillary services (including but not limited to pharmacy, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, nutrition , prosthetics, etc). Implementing palliative and end-of-life care (including but not limited to writing code status/DNR orders etc.). Providing consultation to staff nurses, medical staff, and interdisciplinary colleagues. Assisting staff in the development of innovative, cost effective programs or protocols of care Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE and maintain full and current certification as a mental health nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. On and after March 17, 2009, registered nurses appointed or otherwise moving into these assignments must meet and maintain the following additional qualifications. This includes employees appointed before March 17, 2009, who obtain such qualifications on or after March 17, 2009. Nurse Practitioners. A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. Direct experience in Endocrinology is preferable, or alternatively, experience in managing patients with diabetes. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. This position requires visual acuity (including depth perception), keen hearing (aide permitted), clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity in both hands. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking (2-4 hours), standing (2-6 hours), stooping, sitting, bending, pulling (1-2 hours), and pushing (1-2 hours). lifting (>50 pounds), carrying (>50 pounds). Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. Must be able to work closely with others, as well as protracted or irregular hours of work. Must be compliance with the use of ergonomic exercises and employee safety requirements.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
