General
Summary:
The successful candidate's primary responsibilities include the design, testing, and expansion of the WINDSTREAM data network. Supported data services consist of broadband, dial-up, frame relay/ATM, Dedicated Internet, Metro Ethernet, L2 and L3 VPN, MPLS, VLS, VoIP, and FTTP.
Functional
Responsibilities:
Implements and budgets cost effective, scalable, reliable, and manageable network solutions
Manages network expansion/conversion/decommission data projects of moderate scope
Forecasts, orders, and implements new/replacement network equipment and facilities using defined capital management procedures
Manages capacity of various data network elements and interfaces to ensure availability and to prevent held orders
Identifies necessary network changes, validates proposed changes through testing, develops/submits a detailed work plan, and interfaces with either Data Network Operations group to successfully implement these changes on the production network,or performs the work themselves
Other job related duties as needed/assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Demonstrated knowledge of one or more engineering disciplines and vendor equipment
Strong knowledge of accepted engineering practices
Good understanding of telecommunications industry
Strong computer software knowledge to include Microsoft Office, Custom Planning Tools and Databases
Good analytical skills and the ability to prioritize projects
Good oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills
Demonstrated knowledge of ATM and frame relay services
Thorough understanding of TCP/IP and IP routing fundamentals
Demonstrated understanding of LAN/WAN fundamentals
Solid understanding of DSL design, deployment, support
Thorough understanding of Layer2/3 VPN's, MPLS, Metro Ethernet and/or LAN switching experience
Thorough understanding of BGP, IGRP, RIP, OSPF routing protocols
Ability to stay current with economical and technological developments in the industry
Education and
Experience: College degree and 2-4
years related experience or 6
years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience required.
Desired
Experience:
3
years in a Network Engineering environment or related technical job field
3
years experience troubleshooting IP routers, routing protocols, services, and transport layer problems.
2
years experience with MPLS VPN's
1
years experience with Metro Ethernet and/or LAN switching experience
3
years experience with data networking equipment to include Cisco/Juniper Routers and Ethernet Switches
Certifications/Licenses:
Cisco CCNA desired, CCNP/CCDP preferred
Juniper JNCIA desired, JNCIP/JNCIS preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
