About the Role:
As an Associate General Counsel, you will play a crucial role in providing legal guidance and support across various aspects of our marketing agency's operations.
This position requires a strong legal background, familiarity with the legal needs of marketing agencies, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
You will work closely with the General Counsel and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance, manage risks, and protect the company's interests.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to; Legal Compliance:
Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to marketing activities, data privacy, intellectual property, consumer protection, and advertising.
Contract Management:
Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including client agreements, vendor contracts, licensing agreements, and partnership agreements.
Provide guidance on contractual obligations and terms.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Identify legal risks and provide proactive advice to mitigate potential issues.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to manage legal and compliance risks effectively.
Intellectual Property:
Manage intellectual property matters, including trademark registrations, copyright protection, and licensing agreements.
Conduct intellectual property clearance searches and address infringement claims when necessary.
Dispute Resolution:
Assist in resolving legal disputes, including client disputes, contract disagreements, and employment matters.
Collaborate with external counsel as needed.
Legal Research and Analysis:
Stay up to date with legal developments and industry trends affecting the marketing sector.
Conduct legal research, analyze findings, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements Juris Doctor (J.
D.
) degree from an accredited U.
S.
law school.
Admitted to the Bar in a U.
S.
State (preferably New York).
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney with extensive marketing industry experience and/or marketing agency clients.
Strong knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and industry guidelines impacting the marketing industry.
Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and management.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Strong business acumen and the ability to balance legal considerations with commercial objectives.
